The redevelopment of this 14-storey hospital building containing wards and offices involved the design and documentation for a number of new and complex functions, including laboratories and information technology accommodation. The significant acoustic challenges for ASK to consider included upgrading patient accommodation to current standards, providing adequate transmission loss across the existing façade for the nearby emergency helicopter landing pad, providing vibration isolation for sensitive laboratory equipment such as an electron microscope and developing acoustic isolation between proposed uses such as labs and offices.
